We need your help to end the trade of blood diamonds.
|
Rebel groups in Sierra Leone used the diamond trade to fund a devastating civil war, which has left hundreds of thousands of people displaced, raped, mutilated, or dead. Since then, the United Nations has implemented the Kimberley Process Certification Scheme to stop the trade of blood diamonds, but such trade continues today. Around the world, diamonds continue to be produced through child and slave labor. These diamonds are later smuggled across borders and exported around the world. Today's regulations have lessened the problem, but the problem still exists. With enough signatures, our petition will push Congress to reform the diamond importing process and eradicate all blood diamonds from the United States and put pressure on the international diamond trade. Support these people and end their suffering by saying no to blood diamonds and signing our petition. |
